Support for gifted students at eight- or six-year grammar schools

My thesis deals with the education and support of gifted and exceptionally gifted pupils at Czech multi-year gymnasia. The aim of the thesis is to find out how the support of gifted pupils is carried out in multi-year gymnasia we selected and what kind of teaching methods does teachers use when working with these pupils. The thesis consists of two parts. The first part summarizes findings on the issue of gifted students with an emphasis on their characteristics, identification and education. The course of the research investigation is described in the second part of the thesis. The results of the analysis of annual reports and school education programs of selected schools are evaluated here, and the results of the questionnaire survey are also discussed in this section. In addition to the form of support for gifted students at multi-year gymnasia, the connection between the form of support for gifted students with age, length of experience and teachers approval was also investigated. The conclusions of the research indicate that there is still insufficient support for gifted pupils. The methods that were mentioned most often by schools and by teachers are not very suitable for developing talents and supporting gifted students. The ways of identification gifted student with dual exceptionality by the first degree of elementary school's teacher

This thesis deals with methods of identification of a gifted student with dual exceptionality by a teacher at the 1st grade of elementary school. The aim of the work is to find out what specific methods teachers use to identify students with dual exceptionality. Do they use available identification methods for educators, or do they have their own tested procedures for identifying this group of gifted students. The aim is also to find out how the cooperation between teachers and experts of the school counseling office takes place in the identification of twice exceptional pupils. The theoretical part contains the characteristics of basic concepts such as giftedness, dual exceptionality, identification, methods of identification, specific learning disorders. Giftedness can occur with different types of handicaps, this thesis focuses on the combination of giftedness with specific learning disabilities that appears most often in the schools (participating in the research). That is the reason why specific learning disabilities are described in the theoretical part. Further there are introduced the basic types of pedagogical identification methods and some types of psychological tests for identifying the mental abilities of the pupill. Gifted students in basic school

The central theme of this work is the issue of gifted and exceptionally gifted pupils and their education in primary schools. The theoretical part of the work deals with terminology, models of giftedness, characteristic manifestations of gifted students, cognitive and non-intellectual features and a specific group of gifted children, which consists mainly of students with double exceptionality and underperformance. It also analyzes the educational and educational needs of the gifted, provides an overview of legislative documents related to it, and presents approaches recommended by experts that can be effectively applied to gifted students in compulsory school education. The aim of the research part is to analyze the experiences of pedagogues - educational advisors - with gifted pupils at primary schools in the Rychnov nad Kněžnou region, through self-constructed questionnaires, at the same time to analyze their attitudes, approaches and orientation in the issue, as well as how nomination and identification of these pupils takes place and how they are supported in their education. Early reading literacy development of early readers at the beginning of the school attendance Abstract The aim of the dissertation is to monitor the development of the initial reading literacy of early readers, i.e., children who have learned to read with the comprehension before beginning of their school attendance. The aim of the research was to find answers to the questions how and when these children learned to read and how their initial reading literacy and motivation to read developed during the first year of primary school. Subsequently, the subject of the research was the verification of the connection between early reading and intellectual giftedness and family background. Talent management in secondary education in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with the topic of talent management in relation to teaching staff in second- ary education in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to describe its current state and to find out how talented teachers are cared for in Czech secondary schools and how princi- pals perceive talented teachers and talent management. The thesis defines and puts into context the concepts of teaching staff, teacher stand- ard, talented teacher, talent and giftedness as well as talent management. A newly developed definition of a talented educator is also included. The specifics description of the Czech schools' environment for the talent management implementation in terms of individual pro- cesses is followed by a questionnaire survey. The research results are linked to the context of Czech education and compared with the results of previous investigations of talent man- agement in Czech organisations. The care of Czech teachers is very specific from the talent management perspective. The teaching profession is demanding and Czechia lacks a functional career system and a generally accepted teacher standard. HIGHLY GIFTED GIRLS IN THE FIRST GRADE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL

The thesis focuses on the issue of the education of extremely gifted girls in the first grade of primary school. The aim of the work is to map the issue of educating particularly gifted girls from the perspective of teachers, parents, and the girls themselves. The main aim of theoretical part is to describe the characteristics of gifted girls and the most common problems based on a reserch of Czech and foreign literature. The major focus is set on the issue of gender stereotypes which may influence the self-image of gifted girls and their education process. In practical terms, the case reports several extremely gifted girls in the first grade of primary school from the point of view of individul grils as well as from the point of view of their parents. The practical part includes a discussion with the teachers to map their expectations and experience of educating the gifted girls. The results of the research confirmed the findings from the scientific literature. Girls do not tend to hide their talents if they are being educated in a stimulating conditions and their individual needs are respected. Social-emotional characteristics of gifted children at preschool age

This thesis deals with the issue of gifted pre-school children. The aim of this work is to identify and describe the socio-emotional characteristics of gifted preschoolers. The theoretical part focuses on general definitions of giftedness and talent, general characteristics of gifted preschoolers and their identifying. It also focuses on the characteristics reported in the literature with a particular emphasis on socio-emotional area. In the empirical part, which uses qualitative methodology, six preschoolers, who were labeled as gifted by their teachers were observed. The main methods included naturalistic observation and structured interviews with teachers of gifted children. Based on my observation I found that some socio-emotional symptoms occured more widely in the observed gifted children. Firstly almost all the observed children held the positions of group leader. They often communicated with authorities more often confidently and without shyness. Most of them had a strong need to inform the teacher about something or to boast about something. Tales of scientific talent - a qualitative study of the development of gifted young adults

The present bachelor's thesis focuses on the problems of gifted students, specifically on the students gifted in natural sciences. Methodologically, it represents a qualitative multiple-case study in which I explored in detail educational careers of four cases, i.e. individual students gifted in science. In the theoretical part, I introduced the basic concepts and theories of giftedness. In the following empirical part I conducted semi-structured interviews with the participants which were subsequently processed by thematic analysis. The main goal of the study is to analyze the factors that may shape the development of the scientific talent. I strive to understand the meaning, which the talent acquired in the lives of researched individuals and how it influenced their perspective of their future professional careers.
